Check the Tides First

Tides are the heartbeat of Port Ludlow. Whether you're launching a kayak from the marina, beachcombing, crabbing, or just planning a walk along the water, the tide chart should be your first stop.

Best resource for day-of checks: The NOAA Tides & Currents station at Port Ludlow (station #9445017). It gives you exact high and low tide times and heights for today and up to two years out, plus sunrise/sunset times.

Marine Forecast & Wind

For boaters and paddlers heading out of the marina or into Admiralty Inlet, check the National Weather Service marine forecast before casting off:

Watch for Small Craft Advisories and wind direction. West and northwest winds funnel straight down Admiralty Inlet and can build chop in the bay surprisingly fast. If you're a kayaker or paddleboarder, anything over 10 knots of wind is worth a second thought, and always wear your PFD.
